good info - thanks for sharing! only problem is it gives Obamas' joint income and giving #s whereas only shows John McCain's and not his wife's so not a true comparison kwim?
This is probably a stupid question - but does Cindy McCain actually "work"? Granted, it says her "income" in 2006 was roughly $6mil, but is that family money or actual income? Am I making any sense this late at night? :)
Even if you compare Obama and his wife's joint charitable contribution vs. McCain's single contribution - it's fairly similar, so wouldn't that lead one to assume with Obama's income alone, without that of his wife's income and contributions, his percentage would still be less?
ETA - with the $4mil Obama made in his book sales (HIS book sales), that puts his income far above McCain's alone without his wife's income, comparing each of their contributions based on that alone puts a significant difference of contribution when comparing the two, b/c I would think you'd have to consider that $4mil at Obama's income, not his wife's, b/c he wrote the books, afterall. KWIM?
yes, I know exactly what you mean. And, although I don't like McCain or his politics, I do admire his wife's charitable work - I just wish she did more of it in the US rather than overseas all the time - I feel the same way about people like Angelina Jolie - I don't understand why these folks can't help domestic causes that are in such grave need.
Oh I completely understand - I admire those who give charitable contributions to any organization in or out of the country...but I think contributing to our OWN people should come first and receive the most charity.

At leas McCain and Obama give more than Biden. He has averaged about .10%, that's 1/10 of a percent over the past 10 years.
