i asked: "are you suggesting that mental health issues are "made up" and that people can overcome them without assistance from medical professional and, in some cases, pharmacology?" i asked because your point was not clear. i asked for clarification. i gave a possible explanation - not my own experience or opinion.
you then gave a link to a newsletter from WebMD that says being grateful is good for your mental health. That is not the same thing as saying mental health problems can be cured by "looking in the mirror", by no whining or by simply being grateful.
after wondering if you had some relation to Tom Cruise, I gave you a link to the WebMD site that talks about the reality of mental illness - not the kind that can be overcome by gratitude. so why is that not "taking it"? just because i don't agree with you? or was my first assumption wrong and do you actually agree that mental illness is a real condition that cannot be overcome by not whining?

AND AGAIN this is an example of a pointless discussion, not about the issues.
I think McCain/Palin will win, and we will see further demise of our Constitution, our civil liberties, the environment, and more war (maybe even nuclear), and the world will just hate us even more, and wonder how the heck we could have voted in someone with a 90% voting record the same as Bush's.
And I will sit around and worry for the future of my daughters, and pray, pray, pray.
And then someday in the not-so-distant future, people will step back and cry and say, "What have we done????" and it will be too late.
My extraordinarily perceptive 14 year old watched part of the RNC and said "this reminds me of that scene in Star Wars III where the Chancellor Palpatine had just been voted control of the Galactic Republic and Queen Amadalla says "so this is how liberty dies....with thunderous applause".
I beg to differ. I fear if Obama wins and then terrorism strike again, THEN we'll be hearing those of you who vote for him, this man who won't even put his hand over his heart religiously when saying the pledge, say "oh dear, God! What have WE done???" All I have to say is, may the best man win.

you said: "And some people are addicted to unhappiness and misery and always look to someone else to blame for it instead of in the mirror."

Ooooops! My bad. I did the same thing. I'm sorry!

That's one insightful 14 year old! What a smartie!!!
I think Lucas intended it to be allegorical, reflecting Bush administration and the congress handing him extraordinary power after 9/11.
