If you don't like Fox News, then you probably didn't watch it..but who out there did? I did, and I thought it was awesome! I was very impressed with John McCain's straight, direct answers.

For anyone that didn't know what this was..Rev. Rick Warren author of A Purpose Driven Life,

I've never heard of any forum like this either.. I'm sure anytime a large amount of money is involved.. it doesn't get spent the way it should. I wouldn't be really shocked if someone pockets a wad of money from Saddleback.

I was at a conference, so I only caught about 20 minutes of Senator Obama's discussion with Rev. Warren. I found his answers to be thoughtful, direct and carefully worded. Unfortunately, I fell asleep prior to Sen. McCain's portion, so I can't comment on his performance.

Just an FYI...McCain was not in a sound proof anything. He was in route to the church for over half of Obama's portion of the forum. He had plenty of time to prep against Obama's answers..or brush up on his answers to please the base.

ITA.

I'd still like to see a debate, but also more of these type forums/debates...

McCain was very much in his element, comparable to the, lol..sorry, grandfather telling stories around the dinner table. He was straightforward and I felt his answers were honest. Well, as honest as a politician can be. I understood his message. For most of this race I've been questioning a lot because I just didn't get what they were trying to relay...

Obama.......not so much. I don't think he answered many of the questions. He just didn't feel comfortable, you could tell. I don't know, I just wasn't impressed. I wanted to be, but I wasn't...

McCain nailed it, and Obama lost out...too bad.

>>Fairly predictable questions considering the forum. Fairly predictable answers considering the politics necessary to woo the audience in attendance.<<

You're right, it was predictable. But these guys have been campaigning for a very long time. Of course we're not going to hear anything new....we've heard it all before. I think that this was just a chance to be a little more personable for them, in a setting not so rigorous as a debate. Obama took it too seriously. Understandable...totally. But he didn't need to. He could've been more laid back and probably won a lot of points.

jmo really. Everyone's take on it is going to be different because we all see things differently.

To me, Janet...when someone is asked a question and they just ramble on and don't really make a point, or the point gets lost in the rambling...that to me screams NERVOUS!! kwim? Now I know he didn't do that the whole interview, but some of his answers were rambly (is that a word??lol).

I kind of relate it to a job interview, lol...I get so nervous I just ramble on and on....

I could be wrong, but that's just my take on it.

:)

You're right, an Obama fan isn't going to "switch" to McCain, and vice versa.

But a person who is undecided might be swayed. I know that's me anyway. This sort of started to tip the scale in McCain's favor for me. We'll see what happens next.

I also heard they were each given 2 or 3 questions prior to the event...

I'm sure they're each pretty familiar with the other's pov on the issues. So I'm sure that both of them took plenty of time to prep and brush up. Do you really think that either of them would just show up unprepared in some way?

I don't know what I'm going into for a job interview...but I've had several so I have at least a basic idea of what to expect. Not much difference, I'd say. Though, I've never been interviewed for POTUS, lol...

I agree with you.
