Can someone nicely tell me the reasons you support Obama?

I just can't figure it out...it SEEMS alot of people support him b/c he's the "popular" choice or because he's black. What is he going to do that benefits you?

Thanks in advance

And I have to say, I DO NOT like Bush either. He made some huge mistakes, and b/c of that, I think a lot of people are voting Obama

I'm not anti-American just because I am voting for Obama, thank you very much.

And how can you possibly claim to be a Democrat and yet always vote "pro-life"? By the way, what do you consider to be "pro-life"? Do you vote for candidates who support the death penalty? How about those that support war? As far as I know, both of those activities are incredibly anti-life, but then you could just be meaning that you are anti-choice.

Erica,
I appreciate that you want to understand the other side. A think a first step in not being resentful if Obama wins is to keep a few things in perspective. People have ALL SORTS of reasons for voting for someone. Yes, there are people who are voting for Obama because he "talks pretty" and similarly, there are people who are voting for McCain because they just think its cool that he was a POW. Voters on both sides can be more or less educated. If McCain wins, I find hope in knowing that some wonderful, educated people support him based on his merits. You can find hope in knowing that Obama, too, is supported by some wonderful, educated people who see his merits. There are plenty of Obama supporters who are pro-American, pro-Life, who don't expect him to magically fix all our problems, and who aren't salivating at the chance to "steal from the rich." I think once the election is over, it will become easier to see past the campaign slogans and start seeing Obama and his supporters as just people, people who are not so different from you.

Thank you for your response. I always find it fascinating when people vote Republican only because of this issue. I have never been a one-issue voter and I find it interesting when people are.
