"I know many people on this board feel that the media is often left-leaning and too liberal so I was wondering - why do you think that is? "
The media does not "lean left." This is completely absurd and is the result of double-think from the right. The media leans towards entertainment - they give the people largely what they want, which is sensationalism. That's what people want. They want some of 'truth', but not so much that it hurts too bad or makes them uncomfortable. Mostly it needs to be entertaining. It needs to point out scapegoats. It can't provide deep analysis, because they know people will be up to change the channel in a heartbeat.

I completely agree. I watch Fox News mostly - I tune it to others from time to time to hear what the left is saying directly, but for the most part I can't stand the pure bias of it all.
I listen to AM radio as well, which I prefer over any TV broadcasts.

I disagree, the media most certainly leans left.

I tend to agree although there are certainly those in the media who lean left just as there are those who lean right.

I did find this interesting...

There are other links at the bottom of that page.
I also found this one interesting, regarding the war in Iraq: http://www.mediaresearch.org/realitycheck/2007/fax20071204.asp
"People pay for what they do, and still more, for what they have allowed themselves to become. And they pay for it simply: by the lives they lead"
Well, like the saying goes, "no news is good news". Who would bother watching the news if all they had to report was rainbows and sunshine. :-)

No - "no news" isn't "good news" - when the "good news" isn't being reported, and only the bad news is being reported, it has a major impact on how people view the war, b/c they AREN'T getting the entire picture.
It's kind of like introducing someone to someone else, and telling them about them beforehand...if you ONLY list the negatives (which we all have) but leave out the positives - how do you think they're going to feel about the person?
You can't only report the negatives and expect people to actually have an undertanding of what's going on. It's no wonder so many people don't support the war - we never hear about the positives.
If people only want to hear juicy, bad news
Way to take what I said out of context. I can't stand the bias of most other networks - I also pointed out I rarely watch TV, and
