""I know many people on this board feel that the media is often left-leaning and too liberal so I was wondering - why do you think that is? "
The media does not "lean left." This is completely absurd and is the result of double-think from the right. The media leans towards entertainment - they give the people largely what they want, which is sensationalism. That's what people want. They want some of 'truth', but not so much that it hurts too bad or makes them uncomfortable. Mostly it needs to be entertaining. It needs to point out scapegoats. It can't provide deep analysis, because they know people will be up to change the channel in a heartbeat."
I completely agree.
Thank you Rebekah for the beautiful siggy!

Just curious - why is it unfair that Obama gets more media attention than McCain but it doesn't seem to bother you that Palin gets more attention than Biden? The reason that I ask is not to argue over who gets more coverage, but rather to prove my point that an older white guy running for office (be it McCain or Biden) just doesn't generate the level of interest that a black man or a woman does.

Based on his defense of him on his radio show, on the "gleam in his eye" during the interview, little things. Nothing he specifically said. It seemed like his "base" wants to go for Obama's jugular, and O'reilly wouldn't do it on the radio, and I don't think he did it in the TV interview (although the ads and analysis he provided about the interview gave the viewers a different impression).
There are some true believers out there, but I think O'Reilly is an entertainer who gives his opinion - that's his schtick. I don't think he is a "true believer", but I doubt he wants "the base" to know that.
