Why the GOP lost highly educated voters

From what I have been hearing lately, Obama won the vote from highly educated people (graduate degrees) by a large margin. As a scientist, I can say that the damage done to the scientific community by the Bush administration has been incredibly detrimental. This article explains why the GOP lost the vote of EVERY scientist that I spoke with about this election (probably 30+).

As a fellow scientist, I feel absolutely sick when I read this about the Bush admin...

As one official explained to author and journalist Ron Suskind in 2002, the administration had nothing but disdain for what it called "the reality-based community," people who "believe that solutions emerge from your judicious study of discernible reality." That would be science. Instead, said the official, "we create our own reality."

Yep, they teach to the test, that is it

Oh, ugh, don't even get me started on standardized testing and what it does to our kids' ability to think creatively!

Our salaries aren't affected, but we do get a bonus if they increase by a certain percentage.

Wow, I was very active in my son's elementary school and was very dissapointed to find that they were firing highly qualified good teachers because the non-english-speaking students in our high immigrant populated area were scoring poorly on the Language Arts test (UMMM DUH) My personal favorite is the fact that some one with an odd sense of humor named the test in virginia the Standard of Learning (SOL) - yes all of our students are now SOL thanks to these tests
