WHY WOMEN SHOULD VOTE.
This is the story of our Grandmothers and Great-grandmothers; they lived only 90 years ago.

Remember, it was not until 1920
that women were granted the right to go to the polls and vote.

The women were innocent and defenseless, but they were jailed
nonetheless for picketing the White House, carrying signs asking
for the vote.

(Lucy Burns)
And by the end of the night, they were barely alive.
Forty prison guards wielding clubs and their warden's blessing
went on a rampage against the 33 women wrongly convicted of
'obstructing sidewalk traffic.'
They beat Lucy Burns, chained her hands to the cell bars above
her head and left her hanging for the night, bleeding and gasping
for air.

(Dora Lewis)
They hurled Dora Lewis into a dark cell, smashed her
head against an iron bed and knocked her out cold. Her cellmate,
Alice Cosu, thought Lewis was dead and suffered a heart attack.
Additional affidavits describe the guards grabbing, dragging,
beating, choking, slamming, pinching, twisting and kicking the women.
Thus unfolded the 'Night of Terror' on Nov. 15, 1917,
when the warden at the Occoquan Workhouse in Virginia ordered his
guards to teach a lesson to the suffragists imprisoned there because
they dared to picket Woodrow Wilson's White House for the right
to vote.
For weeks, the women's only water came from an open pail. Their
food--all of it colorless slop--was infested with worms.

(Alice Paul)
When one of the leaders, Alice Paul, embarked on a hunger strike, they tied her to a chair, forced a tube down her throat and poured liquid into her until she vomited. She was tortured like this for weeks until word was smuggled out to the press.

I'm pretty sure you didn't say this, so I won't drop the h-word (hypocricy) but I will say that in another thread I read just moments ago, a poster was fear-mongering that it would be the democratic party who would get rid of all our rights. Interesting. It sounds like the party pushing the police state here are the Republicans (wiretapping, torture, and now stealing babies).
Not to fear-monger, but if you haven't, you should totally read 1984.
Just an aside - I don't actually believe that republicans (except maybe Cheney) want a police state nor do I believe that democrats want socialism. The reducio ad absurdum and slippery slope fallacies abound. This is why our children need to be better educated in CRITICAL literacy. Don't fall victim to the fallacies!

So your don't believe in the 4th amendent? Call me crazy, but rights apply to all US citizens. Do you really see it differently?
Heck, but I feel percentage wise that people who own guns are more likely to be involved in violent crime! To tell you the truth, I've got no problem with your legal guns, but register them, and keep them safe.
Really? When was that - I was in hs in the 70s right after RoevWade in a Catholic hs. Abortion was an option for several of my friends, legal or not. Safe-sex ed
listening in on your telephone ~~ I have nothing to hide. Do you?? Next time we have a terrorist problem, and they come knocking on your door.... when you dial for help, make sure you press 3 for English because it will not be the native language anymore. They won't knock on my door when they see all the NRA stuff. LOL!
The sky is falling in your neck of the woods?
Honestly?? I think they should be forced to give them up for adoption and 100% give up their parental rights to that child. There are plenty of American couples here in the US that cannot conceive. Why are these couples going to 3rd world countries to adopt?? Because lawyers have to stick their nose into everything and make it difficult to adopt here just to make more money.
Who are those religious fanatics?
