I get what you're saying, and I do understand that people are talking about the Kerry's $$ without focusing on the privileged class Bush came from, so I totally get how it would be frustrating to hear all these people talking about it.

However, one thing that does come to mind as to why people might be talking about it so much is the fact that Kerry seems to try and get people to think he's all for the common, middle class American, and maybe he is, but you know, the whole argument of taxing the richer more and so on. It seems hard for many to swallow that when you're that rich you're trying to get it and do things for those in a different lifestyle. Perhaps that's what drives people to talk and speculate about motives and money on his side.

For Bush, people know his stance, he's rich, and he promotes the rich to get richer (in essence...I'm not attacking him per se for the Bush supporters out there, I am in fact voting for him) for different economic beliefs. But at least people get what they see with him.

Another thing is; I think money in general is a huge deal as far as politics go, simply b/c the politicians that even remotely stand a chance to run our country are incredibly wealthy and have lived much more privileged lives than the majority of America, who they are supposed to be representative of, ever even has dreamed of. I think most people are concerned about this simply b/c potential presidents have no real life idea of who their countrymen are.

That's just my take...hopefully it was intelligent enough dialogue for ya...I'm teasing, ok? ;o)

Well, I double disagree with you, LOL!

First of all, find me a politician who doesn't have money.

Two things that get me about their money:

The fact that they paid a smaller percentage than I did, yet he keeps blathering on about how the rich in the country need to be paying the most.

The fact that he could have opted to be taxed at a higher rate and he chose not to.

Other than that, I have no problem with it. I hope someday to be able to afford seven mansions LOL

Isn't Kerry himself who is demonizing wealth to attack Bush? It should sicken people that they are worth billions and are pretending to be average Joes. Hey Kerry, if you dont like the tax cut give it back! The same goes for those elitist Hollywood freaks.

Mrs. Ketchup paid less taxes on her money in 2001 than the average middle class American.

2 Things:

Go find your 2003 tax return and take your Total Taxes (line 60) and divide it by Total Income (line 22).

I'll check my taxes later on.

As far as the accountant not checking the box. I can't really say I think Kerry deserves much of a break here. I think that a Senator should know that his own state has a box on their tax form that allows for people (especially those making more than $200K) to be taxed at a higher rate. It just seems like that's one of those things he should know about the state he is representing. I also think that since Kerry has been pretty consistent in saying the rich deserves to pay more taxes, his accountant would probably know that is what he says to the public, and would more than likely point the box out to him.
