~I think everyone is smart enough to know that she has been instructed on what she can and cannot say.~

This reminds me of something.

I'm not sure either who she really is. I'm waiting to pass any judgement on her until more of this financial crisis unfolds. Keeping her reigned in right now could be a strategic move or it could be for every reason stated on this board. If she is truly this powerhouse reformer who doesn't back down like she was potrayed at the convention, I just think it might get interesting. I just get the feeling that the Obama camp and the press are thinking they are giving her enough rope to hang herself, and they could very well be blindsided very close to election day if she starts telling the American Public some of the things they want to hear. I think it will all depend on how fast the economy tanks or not, and at that time foreign policy is definately gonna take the back burner. I guess I'm just not so quick to dismiss her just yet. Like, I said, it could get interesting.

<<I seriously doubt it, but I am anxiously awaiting the day the "gloves come off" so to speak. I think everyone is smart enough to know that she has been instructed on what she can and cannot say. The press and the democrats are having a field day with her right now. If and when we see the real Sarah in this campaign, I think that opinions will change. I'm anxious to see the debate. I honestly have no idea how it will turn out. She has two opponents in this debate, Biden and the Press. It should be interesting.>>

maybe she has been instructed on what she can and can not say, but she surely doesnt not what she is supposed to say. ie-her interview with couric

why would they keep her protected if she is really that good? people are losing respect for her by the day!

i'm going to say she has 3 opponents: biden, the press, and her own mouth (with or without lipstick)

The truth is, regardless of the fact that McCain is an idiotic choice for our next president, he may well become just that given the oh-so-intelligent voting record of our country.

Did you mean that to come across as insulting as it did?

I also believe that the state of our nation now as compared to eight years ago will support my opinion on this.

Playing devils advocate here. Would you stand behind your statement above if it read: I believe that the state of our nation now as compared to TWO YEARS ago will support my opinion on this.

I'm truly not attacking your statement, but I kinda lean towards the notion that the economy really started tanking when Congress changed from Republican control to Democratic control. I don't mean to imply that I think the democrats are fully to blame. I think its both sides refusing to work together that got us where we are today.

Ashley,

I usually agree with you, but in this case I will say that some of your language could be construed as attacking another's intelligence if they support McCain.

I find it interesting that you think this is offensive when our CL for the board is comparing Obama to Hitler and another poster blamed terrorism on immigrants and diversity, though.

Now your statement above I agree with wholeheartedly.

You make a good point, but I think that the economy's tanking can't be blamed on the last two years alone. Plus, I think that the democratic majority in congress was hobbled by the fact that they knew that GWB would veto anything they did to try and change the republican instituted status-quo. I'm not just talking about the mortgage mess, though. I'm talking about the HUGE increase in spending that has put our country massively far into debt and this (IMO) unnecessary war in Iraq.

I actually hold Clinton somewhat responsible for loosening mortgage requirements, but that being said, Bush and the republicans had plenty of chances to change it when they came into power - especially once it became clear that the system was being abused - but they didn't.

I'm sure that no one party is solely responsible for the mortgage mess, but I DO blame the Bush administration for the war and the debt. No way around that.
