Introducing myself

I've been browsing this board for a bit and thought I'd introduce myself...

I've hung out on the Breastmilk vs Formula debate board since it was Parentplace (1998?), and have been the CL there for the past few years. When things would get slow, I would venture out to the other debate boards and even occasionally post. But I don't think I have posted on the religion debate board before yesterday.

I think about it a lot, and my son and I debate religion quite frequently. But he is (mostly) in agreement, so it's really more of a discussion than a debate - LOL

My own family was not religious, but I spent a good part of my early years living with my grandmother who was deeply religious, and most of my extended family as well. As I got older, and my mom allowed me to read all the "worldly" books my grandmother did not allow - well, I had questions.

And the older I got, the more questions I had. That were not answered and after bringing in an elder to tell me the same scriptures they had all told me, I was told to stop asking questions. Period.

Well, now I am "fallen away" and it's been a lifetime since I walked away. I continue to question, and I have even found some answers I can accept over the years. At this point, I like the idea that we are "spiritual beings having a human existance" - but of course, I will not truly know until the end - and as I tell my son - I will have even more questions - and I expect answers!! LOL

Hi Catherine!  I guess most people just jump right in with an issue of debate, if they have one.  I'm kinda new here myself.  I've noticed a few hit and run posters around here.  They'll post something nasty and disappear.  I responded to one of them and I never got a reply.  It's always good to see new people here.  I'm Catholic and so I generally respond to posts on subjects I'm familiar with. Welcome aboard.

This board, years ago, use to a very lively place. There was one thread that went to over 3000 posts. It was a very interesting discussion but rather heated at times. Religion can be, after all, a very emotional topic.

We had the same on our breastmilk vs. formula debate board - I really miss those 1,000+ long threads! Now it's so quiet there, you would think the debate had been settled! LOL

Hi Defender! Yes, I did just jump into a debate thread at first, and I guess the thread died - because no one posted after that. So I thought maybe I had to introduce myself first, before anyone would respond to me.
