I just finished reading The Drop, the new Michael Connolly book. I don't read that many detective novels, but I love the Harry Bosch character. I'm about to start the Goon Squad (can't remember the exact title), which was recommended by a friend. The last book that sucked me in was Steve Job's biography, which I found fascinating. I have way too many favorite books to try to name just one. Same with favorite authors. I find there are books and authors who have appealed to me at different times of my life. Sometimes it's fun to go back and re-read something that made a big impact on you 20 or 30 years ago and see what you think now. As for hardback, paperback, or e-reader--all of the above!

At the moment I am mostly reading stuff I have to read for work or school, unfortunately.

The quote in my siggy is from one of my favorite authors, and I can warmly recommend his novel Barbara (it exists in English translations).

If you have not read The Tin Drum, by Günther Grass, then do. That was one of those books I could not put down and it stays with you. There is also a pretty good film version of it.

I also love anything really by George Eliot, as a friend put it, "Jane Austen for grown-ups," and the short stories by Thomas Mann.

What are you currently reading? The Cleft, by Doris Lessing. It's very good. I also just finished listening to Explosive Eighteen by Janet Evanovich and V is for Vengeance by Sue Grafton.

What was the last book that sucked you in, that you couldn't set down until it was finished? Probably Outlander, by Diana Gabaldon

What is your favorite book? I don't know if I have a very favorite book right now. For a long time it was The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver

Who is your favorite author? Ann Patchett is one of my all time favorites.

Hardback, paperback, or ereader? Hardbacks and paperbacks. Most of the books I read are things MIL has passed on. It's a mix of paperbacks and hardbacks. I also listen to a lot of books while walking and doing chores. I have a subscription to Audible for those and listen on my iPhone.
