My idiot sister in law showed up at the family Christmas with a stomach bug. That should put us out of commission for Christmas and a week after. I am so pi$$ed! Does everyone else have people like this in their family who only think about themselves? The worst part is she has a 3 month old grandaughter and she was kissing all over that poor baby...ignorant!

How awful! We always had to be very careful when we were little, because my grandpap had lung/heart problems. There were quite a few times we stayed home because one of us was sick. And kissing on a baby? That's terrible.

Being sick is NOT an excuse for our family to miss Christmas at my IL's.

I say, let him get furious! He is not the one who has to take care of sick babies. He is being extremely selfish. Why would he want the kids to be sick just so he can have his get together? That is so mixed up imo.

I see our children as our number one priority. I think that is more important than peace. I do understand though if you can't get your dh on board. We drove two hours to get there yesterday. I would have liked to get back in the car to go home, but dh wouldn't do that....ugh! So now I am pi$$eed at him. He won't be the one cleaning up if the kids get sick either! I am supposed to have Christmas with my side of the family on Friday. I haven't seen my brother and his family for 1 1/2 years because they live far away. If I have to miss seeing him because of this, there won't be any peace for a lONG time!

YES! My sister and her son came to our house for Thanksgiving -- he's 2 -- coughing like seals. They were around my kids (4 year old twins) and tried to get around my newborn son (he was born on the 17th of Nov). I was LIVID. They had driven up with my parents, who also should have known better.
Luckily my littlest guy didnt get sick, but DH and the older kids did. Ugh.

Hopefully your family will miss this bug. Take a ton of emergenc-c or other vit c packed stuff. I know its purely anecdotal, but it works for us.

I'm sure your fil really wants to see the kids and spend Christmas with them. Is this your dh's step-father?

Actually no, it's about controlling everything, getting to see the kids is a bonus.

Wow, I am surprised his mom married another controlling man after his father.
