Hubby is home with the kids. Would it bother you the same if it were the other way around? If it was the mother that was home and the father only saw them a few minutes a day? In reality, the second situation is a lot more common than the first. But in order to debate it at all, you have to ask yourself why you're offended in the first place. I agree - 30 minutes is not enough, but it shouldn't matter if it's mom or dad. We don't often criticize fathers for working long hours or endless volunteering even if their children are suffering for it. We shouldn't criticize this woman either.

I posted a link to a company that provides 4 paid days off per year for employees to volunteer; it was ignored.

I was thinking about this the other day, there are two other companies that I have dealt with through my son's school (auction co/chair) in places that we have had our yearly auction, these spaces within the companies offices were used free of charge as we are a school.

I took the boys in for a haircut Saturday and one of the ladies there was giving someone a free haircut in exchange for her donating her hair to locks of love. I asked the stylist how that worked, and she said that her employers let the stylists choose to participate in the program and they get to use company time and company facilities to cut hair for free and the company even pays for the transport of the hair. And that this is a nationwide program (I knew this because I have donated my own hair twice, without really asking how it all works). So here are employers all over the country allowing, even encouraging their employees to do volunteer work on company time.....
