I found this article interesting.

"There in the sunshine are my highest aspirations. I close my eyes, feel their beauty and follow where they lead."

Don't let it get to you. We rarely go places no matter what is around the corner.

We like to be home. We prefer it. Dh & I never did & still don't like going to do a bunch of stuff.

Dd likes to go play with friends, she loves school, dance, gymnastics. But she doesn't like to be away from home all that much. She prefers home like we do.

Don't always watch educational stuff. But we do watch a good amount of it every week.

There is plenty on (we find 3 hrs of family viewing a day) if you look for it.

We take dd to these places. But at 9:30 it is nice to go there by watching a show on penguins or polar bears rather than taking off to the zoo that day.

We take her to historical places. She likes to watch shows about the places she has been or go to places she has seen on tv. Last night we watched a show about an old historical house & we had been there last summer. She was telling all she remembered about it. I was so proud of her. As a mom & a teacher. She could have written a darn good report the way she was going on about it last night.

Places we won't be going (like Paris) is good for her to see on tv. Yes. we could go. We do not like to travel all that much and that would be a big trip so no go. If she wants to go & asks, yes, we will take her. But we are not going to jump up & plan it. I love these shows but I'm not going to take a trip. Living it thru the tv is enough for me.

You go on about kid's wearing tv character clothes like there is something wrong with hit. My dd has blues clues pajamas but it is because she likes blue, not because she watches it all the time. She use to watch it maybe twice a week. She has a spongebob purse. She watches it. Sunday afternoons while we are having lunch. That is the only time other than rarely maybe once during the week.

Clueless how others live who do allow tv for their kids.

"Conjunction junction, what's your function? Hookin' up nouns, and phrases and clauses like, 'How does the frying pan land into fire?'"

Man, I *loved* those things.

One month's cable $55. Drive to zoo 4 hrs to get there.

We have tons of historical sites. Been to all of them. More times than we can count.

I buy whatever dd wants. I don't mind her strawberry shortcake sheets. She watches a SS dvd once every couple of wks.

Lizzie McGuire, two Addams families, & Happy Days, I think it was Beaver that was on at 8:30 when you said you flipped your tv on to see.

At 9, since we are all sick, we put in a movie. Freaky Friday.

We never can not find anything to watch.

DD went to sleep in her sleeping bag. Dh carried her to bed. After that we watched more tv. Shows we wouldn't watch with her. We tape stuff & watch it when we can after she is asleep.

Nice backpedal. Of course your not going to respond. It will only get you in deeper with your conflicting statements. As for "fussing". It's called debating.

I countered the fact that you think you made an "educated" decision when it came to tv viewing for your daughter because of the fact you don't read research or studies. And because it is convienent to you & your husband because you have no other interests. Your decision is a lifestyle decision not an educated one.

I even used your own words to back up my post: "Research? I don't bother wasting my time searching for research. I raise my dd without going by, reading, researching studies and "finds"."

You don't want people to "fuss" then keep your views consistent.

Well, you're partially right. I used to think people like you were more or less cariacatures drawn up by over-eager journalists and so-called parenting experts. But you have persuaded me that there are people whose "family time" consists of meals on TV trays in front of a TV set, and who buy their children anything they want, and who think that marketing junk to children is a good thing. Thanks, I'm no longer so clueless.

Blind? I did not backpeddle.

Fussing is what you do. If you don't like how others live, you fuss about it BAWAHAHAHA!

My views are consistent.

It is an educated one and just because you say it isn't, does not make that untrue. Sorry dear, you don't get to win on this one, we do.
