I found this article interesting.

Don't know why I'm posting this here, it's just your post reminded me of it. ;)

What it is about travel that you hate? And where have you traveled that has led you to not liking it? Have you been to Europe or anywhere outside the US? What prevents you from exploring other countries?

Just trying to figure out where you are coming from. *hating* travel is something I just dont get.

Well, I have to agree with her here. If you educate yourself on the ramifications of your decision, and decide to try to buck the odds and keep smoking, it may be stupid, but you can't get away with saying "I didn't know there were any dangers." So in that sense, it is *educated* in that you are not ignorant of the dangers, facts.

People make all kinds of educated decisions that aren't necessarilty the decisions you or I might make. Stuff like *knowing* the risks of not wearing a seatbelt, but not wearing one anyway; knowing the risks of smoking, but starting anyway; knowing the benefits of breastfeeding, but deciding not to mess with it....I guess it's a risk/benefit thing for most people.

Now, I am still waiting to hear what the BENEFITS of extensive television viewing for kids are vs the documented risks.......

I feel like I'm playing devil's advocate here. . .is an educated decision NOT a decision based upon information, research, facts, pros and cons. . .regardless of the resulting decision?

Aside from the "I don't read research" to "I read the research" flip-flop. . .aside from agreeing or disagreeing with the amount of TV watched or any other decision. . .

If a decision is made after reviewing information, research, facts, pros and cons. . .I would argue that it WAS an educated decision (as in one based upon education). . .just not a decision

I said I don't read all the studies like Grimal posts.

I do read tv/bf.

Got it? I doubt it, but worth a try.

My opinion is based on that is the only way, tv & books, that we plan to experience any place. Overseas in particular.

Maybe you like to travel. Maybe you would rather go to the place than read or watch it on tv.

Dh & I would rather read about it and watch it on tv than to actually travel to it.

Priorities.
