Most folks who hate to travel hate the process, not the places. Here are some of their reasons: they dislike waiting, they dislike flying, they dislike public transit, they dislike using a car that is not their own, they dislike being in surroundings that are unfamiliar, they dislike standing in queues, they dislike having to eat out, they dislike spending money on experiences as opposed to things, they dislike not having a whole closet full of clothes at their disposal at all times; they dislike having the TV channels be different, they dislike carrying luggage, they dislike reading maps, they dislike not getting to read their local newspaper daily, they dislike not seeing their friends every day, they dislike not having a familiar doctor just a phone call away ... (I could go on, but you get the idea.)
I'm certainly not one of them as you well know, but I know quite a few. My sister is even married to one and has been for 44 years--she just leaves him at home.
This is a debate board. I will debate where ever and whenever I see fit. ESPECIALLY when you provide conflicting information. If you don't like it, feel free to not read my post nor respond to them. But don't tell me what I can or cannot post on this board nor to you.
You're the one who posted two different things and NOW are trying to change your story. Don't take your frustrations out on me just because I called you on it.
<> Like I said in the previous post, that's NOT what I took issue with, so I am not sure why you felt the need to reiterate this.
Yeah I guess I can understand that. The travel in itself can sometimes be a hassle, but I just cant see it as NOT being worth the experience! Of course, we have always valued experience over *stuff* (although we have our share of stuff too, LOL).
One thing that makes it sooo worth it to me, is that it has given my children a perspective of the world that they would not have if they didnt travel. Especially my 13yo, its really starting to come out in her. She has an amazing POV about the world and the people in it, and I love talking to her about it. I dont know if she would see things the way she does if she hadnt traveled so extensively.
Have you read the Academy of Pediatrics one? That is a huge one. Others vary. I don't have links or specific study names. Why on earth would I keep that stuff?
I disagree because I see no harm for my dd, for dh & I with our tv viewing.
Oh, please. That original quote *never* referred to anything specific to what grimal was talking about. You *said* you raise your daughter without searching for or even reading research. Period. Yes, we get it. You change your story to suit your argument.
"Research? I don't bother wasting my time searching for research. I raise my dd without going by, reading, researching studies and "finds"."

We'd rather stay home any day.

We grew up just fine with tv. So will our dd.

I don't get it either, but there are many people who hate to travel.
WOn't be clicking on your post anymore. Filled with blubber & think you know it all garbage.
You can post. I won't reply or even read it. So do it for others. I'm not wasting my time with the blubber.
