I found this article interesting.

Yep. If it involves travel, you better believe it.

I agree with you - while I don't agree with Paige's decisions, I do feel that making an "educated" decision does not necessarily mean that you are doing what is considered "right" or "healthy" - it means you found out the facts, and then decided what you wanted to do based on what you learned, regardless of whether it is the law, the norm, etc.

I made an educated decision. I just differ from your beliefs (thankfully(.

So you disagree based on your own childhood experience? What part of the studies do you disagree with? I am not asking for links, I am asking what specifics of the studies you disagree with and why.

Please understand, this isnt about *what works for your family*. That is not debating. This is about defending your platform. If you have read the studies, cite what it is about them you disagree with.

Hey, if you can afford to travel, more power to ya.

Me? Me and my DH are contract workers, meaning self-employed. If we take time off for travel, we dont make money at all, and we have to spend money to travel so when you think about we lose twice the amount of money. We travelled a couple times so family could see our DD. The next month we almost didn't make rent.

I would LOVE to show my DD the sights of the world, or even just in our country. I would personally love to see Italy and Greece. But as long as we are out travelling, we are losing money.

There are many many people out there like me. Who cannot afford to do all these wonderful things with our children. And we are not poor. As long as I keep working, we can live comfortably. So what is wrong with watching this stuff on TV? So we're not living life. At least we dont have to live out of our car.

That's EXACTLY how I feel.

Last night, kids and I got home about 5:30. They had already spent 7 hours each in school, and 1.5 hours after that playing and doing kid stuff. So, for 1/2 hour after we got home, they watched a pre-recorded episode of Animaniacs, while I would down and ordered pizza.

While waiting on pizza, ds colored and dd, bf and I worked on her word scramble homework/project. After the pizza came and we ate, kids rode bikes in the driveway while I cleared up the kitchen, picked up the house a bit, paid some bills, etc.

Then we did baths, and medicine, and it was bedtime. At that point, bf and I vegged and watched Amazing Race.

Sure I could have cleaned the house a bit. I could have started a project. I could have done lots of things. But none of it NEEDED to be done. I'd already had considerable family time. I'd worked a 9 hour day. I'd gone to a long PTA meeting. I'd left the living room and kitchen in reasonable shape. I simply wanted some relaxing, mind-numbing, fun-for-me, snuggle with bf time. So what if the show I chose (Amazing Race) is silly mindless fluff.

We all deserve some fluff in our lives. And as long as that fluff is IN ADDITION TO meaningful things and not in place of ... then no harm done.

LOL! I guess my asking her to explain the "I don't read research" oh wait "yes I do" conflicting posts were to much for her. She is stomping away from my posts. LOL So I guess I won't be needing it. Thanks anyway!

Don't you do ANYTHING "just for the heck of it"?
