I found this article interesting.

"There in the sunshine are my highest aspirations. I close my eyes, feel their beauty and follow where they lead."

We always like to stay home.

Better than going out.

Better than going any place I have to pak a suitcase.

ITA.

An educated decision can still be wrong or unwise

Choose your friends by their character and your socks by their color.  Choosing your socks by their character makes no sense and choosing your friends by their color is unthinkable.

LOL! Except YOUR the one who provides the conflicting posts with the conflicting info. I can totally understand we you wouldn't want to repond to that. So it's not what I believe. It's what YOU write.

Oh, I agree with you, my sister's experience was one of the reasons I made *darn* sure that I married someone who had the same kind of opinions about travel that I do. For the many years when she was a SAHM, they never went ANYWHERE, because he did not consider it a valid thing to spend money on. I don't know how she stood it. I've have dumped a guy like that in a NY heartbeat.

Personally, I think that choosing not to travel even though you can is a wussy way to live. I would go totally stir-crazy with cabin fever, but that's me, and as long as such a person doesn't live with me or travel with me, I'm OK with letting them live that way.

Sure I do. Made a batch of chocolate chip cookies for the kids' lunch today just for the heck of it. Nobody's birthday, no special occasion, just made the dough, cooked a dozen cookies, and froze the rest of it for later treats. Does that count?

Sure does ... what if my special treat to my kids was 2 hours of age appropriate cartoons? Would that still get a frown from you?

Work with me here . . .

You say you made an "educated" decision regarding television because you read the studies, you disagreed with them and you continue to watch 3 hours+ per night.

I say I made an "educated" decision regarding smoking because I read the studies, I disagree with them and I continue smoking.

You said no, my decision is not educated.

What's the difference between your decision and mine?

I LOVE!!! to travel but I still get it. There are lots of activities beloved by other people that I hate so I figure it's only logical that some people are bound to hate doing the things I love doing. I hate playing team sports but it is beloved by enormous numbers of people around the world and it is very beneficial to them. Still, I hate it. So I figure that when I find out somebody hates doing something I love doing (travel) it is analogous to me hating something so many others love doing.

Different people like different things. In your many travels you must have noted that. If you can wrap your head around a Parisian liking something different from an American, you should be able to wrap your head around one poster liking something different from what you do. Or disliking something you like.
