Well I wasnt really speaking of the affordability factor. I dont think that applies to paigeandhannah. She said she *hates* to travel. Can you say the same? Doesnt sound like. Hating something and not wanting to do it, as opposed to having a hard time finding the money to do it, are 2 different things.
We factor travel into our yearly budget. Its that important to us.
Two people confronted with the same evidence can still come to opposite decisions. If they looked at the evidence, it is an educated decision. It is not a foregone conclusion that all educated decisons will be the SAME decision even if based on the same evidence. If that was true, there would only need to be one juror at a murder trial because it could be assumed that anybody else looking at that evidence would come to the exact same conclusion.
Then why can't you simply state "We don't watch tv because we don't enjoy what's on." ??
Although I do find it *hard* to believe that you can't find anything you like, I can believe it ... I can almost always find *something* interesting.
However, since Allen bought me the TiVo, I find myself watching much less "jsut because it's on and I"m bored" TV than before. Before TiVo, if I wanted an hour of down, fluff time, I'd watch whatever I could find that didn't offend me (I'd even been known to suffer through the Golden Girls, lol). Now however, if I have that hour, I can watch something that I truly enjoy (Trading Spaces, L&O, etc) that isn't on now but was on 4 days ago. I don't watch less hours of tv now, but I do watch things I enjoy and less "just because its there" TV.
Choose your friends by their character and your socks by their color. Choosing your socks by their character makes no sense and choosing your friends by their color is unthinkable.

I think that's what I said -- that she had made an educated decision, based on her knowledge of the risks vs the benefits. What I am curious about is what she thinks the benefits are.
I can certainly wrap my mind around the idea. Thats not it. But yes, living such a narrow life IS hard for me to understand, when there is so much out there in the world to see. And I cant understand the concept of thinking that a tv show about a place is equal to actually going there. Like I said, watching life vs actually living it. It just seems very sad to me I guess.
