Affording to Stay at Home

Ever notice that those moms that SAH are usually (although not always) more well off than mothers who WOH? It seems to me, based on what I have seen, that while most women enjoy working their jobs and having a professional life outside of the home, some women prefer to stay home with their kids for a certain amount of time - whether it be 1 year or 10 years - and those women have the option to do so, while other women wouldn't even consider the option because they feel they can't afford it.

Well, it has been my experience that most women who do stay at home have

1) husbands who support the idea

2) Husbands who probably earn enough (or almost enough) to support the family.

3) Enough money to support themselves without working.

**Now I am not talking about people who get help from government agencies, I am speaking about women who do it with no outside help - just seems like most women can't because of financial reasons. So, is being a SAH mom now an "upper class" phenomenon - in general? Of course there are many SAH moms that are middle class, but if they chose to have paying jobs, they'd probably move right back up into that higher income bracket.

Maybe you both should really check out and see how many things there are on Bermuda that is educational. Since Currieri said she has been there, she should know.

Where did I say we go to Disney on a regular basis? We haven't been there in 6 years.

These are your exact words; "My dd has been there twice already and we will bring our son probably in a couple of years. My dh used to live in FL so he has been there about 20 times and we together about 5."

Is the AG place really worth it to go to? My sister said her gf took her dd and the food was horrible and too expensive. I wasn't really looking into eating there but since my dd just got an AG doll, she is interested in going. I told her maybe when it gets warmer because I really would rather go into the city when it is nice out then in the cold.

Yes, the relaxation of any beach. That doesn't mean the kids can't find education in the shells and fish and waterlife they see there.

I just don't think taking the kids to our local beach would be considered a vacation. That is something we can do 365 days out of the year.

I could care less if my kids get anything educational out of our vacations.

I agree. It is nice when they do learn things but they can learn thing anywhere. While we are planning to take them to the Caves, Museum and Zoo in Bermuda. I CAN'T wait to show them the beach too. They are going to love it.
