Affording to Stay at Home

Ever notice that those moms that SAH are usually (although not always) more well off than mothers who WOH? It seems to me, based on what I have seen, that while most women enjoy working their jobs and having a professional life outside of the home, some women prefer to stay home with their kids for a certain amount of time - whether it be 1 year or 10 years - and those women have the option to do so, while other women wouldn't even consider the option because they feel they can't afford it.
Well, it has been my experience that most women who do stay at home have
1) husbands who support the idea
2) Husbands who probably earn enough (or almost enough) to support the family.
3) Enough money to support themselves without working.
**Now I am not talking about people who get help from government agencies, I am speaking about women who do it with no outside help - just seems like most women can't because of financial reasons. So, is being a SAH mom now an "upper class" phenomenon - in general? Of course there are many SAH moms that are middle class, but if they chose to have paying jobs, they'd probably move right back up into that higher income bracket.

Yes, again the either/or situation that you have presented.

When I took my cruise we went on the Holland America line, and I liked it, but it's kind of an older adult line. They had a kid's club area, etc., but there weren't many kids on the cruise. Probably less than a dozen.
A friend of mine works for a travel agency and just recently took a Disney cruise. She raved about it and said their kids programs were excellent, so you could really leave the kids in the program if you wanted adult time. The other nice thing is you can combine a Disney cruise with a Disney stay. And the Shades of Green hotel on the Disney property is AWESOME. Really, it's lovely and it's right next to the Polynesian Resort, so it's walking distance to the monorail system.
We stayed at the Shades of Green when John's little sister was 9 months old and didn't have any problem dealing with babies and hotel stay. And a stroller was more than adequate for the walks back and forth to the Monorail. Plus, since they upgraded/renovated the Shades of Green, they improved the bus service directly from the ticket site to the hotel, so there's always that option, too, if the crew isn't feeling like the walk at the end of a day in the park.
Seriously, go. Disney takes good care of active duty folks and their families.

"I think Noonan is at least eight years too late when she laments that faith now trumps competence in GOP politics. It didn't seem to bother her much when a candidate she supported -- the catastrophically underqualified GWB -- was running and citing Jesus as his favorite political philosopher...It's like the old saying: When you lie down with dogs, you wake up with Hucka-fleas..."--Gator

That's nice, but not relevant to what I asked.

I have heard great things about the Great Wolf Lodge and of course the roller coasters at Cedar Point are supposed to be great!
