Ever notice that those moms that SAH are usually (although not always) more well off than mothers who WOH? It seems to me, based on what I have seen, that while most women enjoy working their jobs and having a professional life outside of the home, some women prefer to stay home with their kids for a certain amount of time - whether it be 1 year or 10 years - and those women have the option to do so, while other women wouldn't even consider the option because they feel they can't afford it.
Well, it has been my experience that most women who do stay at home have
1) husbands who support the idea
2) Husbands who probably earn enough (or almost enough) to support the family.
3) Enough money to support themselves without working.
**Now I am not talking about people who get help from government agencies, I am speaking about women who do it with no outside help - just seems like most women can't because of financial reasons. So, is being a SAH mom now an "upper class" phenomenon - in general? Of course there are many SAH moms that are middle class, but if they chose to have paying jobs, they'd probably move right back up into that higher income bracket.

Trattoria is great -- its quite the scene (or was) for locals on Friday nights.
Go to Horizons' for dinner --- expensive but amazing. Also Coral Beach Club if you can get a member to swing you drinks or dinner for the views. Also love Four Ways and the resteraunt (can't remember the name!) at Elbow Beach.
And yes lived there for 5 years. Its better to visit:) It gets REALLY small. Plus I was married to one of
Since some posters seem terribly stuck on personal anecdotes as their window on the world, I'll simply respond that having lived in both single family houses and all kinds of apartments,
If I had to do it again, I'd leave the ship at Puerto Rico and instead of taking the 2 days at sea to return home, I'd spend that time in Puerto Rico and then just fly home.

I agree! San Juan is overrated.. there are more interesting places (entertaining/cultural/historical) around the island. Next time you visit- let me know - I can give you a list of places to go/things to do.
Oh with kids --- go to St George's White Horse Tavern. Its really fun, has pool tables, etc. and sits right on the water. You can sit outside at picknick tables and order pretty good food, great drinks, and great scenery. Take them to Dock Yard too.
Also go to Harbor Front and sit outside. Also, any of the others upstairs on Front Street have great views and are kid friendly/loud.
Dont go to Four Ways or Horizons with the kids. Its a min of a $250 dinner for two adults. Not kid friendly places.
Thanks so much! We are just going to do our own excursions because the boat prices are very high, especially for 4 people. I have researched and seen that you can do the bus for a small price and then we can do what we want, when we want. We will be there for
