Affording to Stay at Home

Ever notice that those moms that SAH are usually (although not always) more well off than mothers who WOH? It seems to me, based on what I have seen, that while most women enjoy working their jobs and having a professional life outside of the home, some women prefer to stay home with their kids for a certain amount of time - whether it be 1 year or 10 years - and those women have the option to do so, while other women wouldn't even consider the option because they feel they can't afford it.
Well, it has been my experience that most women who do stay at home have
1) husbands who support the idea
2) Husbands who probably earn enough (or almost enough) to support the family.
3) Enough money to support themselves without working.
**Now I am not talking about people who get help from government agencies, I am speaking about women who do it with no outside help - just seems like most women can't because of financial reasons. So, is being a SAH mom now an "upper class" phenomenon - in general? Of course there are many SAH moms that are middle class, but if they chose to have paying jobs, they'd probably move right back up into that higher income bracket.

Well, unless it's a very small applicant pool, most applicants are never interviewed.
Well I agree that the interview is a critical part of the college application process -- and I think a teen can never learn too early how to present him or herself well in that situation -- to speak declaratively -- I've had to break so many female college interns I've worked wiith of that absurd 'upspeak' habit. you know how it goes "And then? me and Sarah? went to the Mall? We were so hungRY?" -- I always said to these young women, don't ask me tell me. upspeak undermines your credibility. It's never to early to learn to listen to respond to be personable and courteous. It may not be all the rage at the 'ahem' FINER institutions but I think it's a key key element. I was an early decision admit so my interview was late in the summer prior to senior year with the dean of Admissions -- it took alot to walk into that dark imposing office all by myself and try to charm his socks off.. but I did and I"ve been charming socks of interviewers ever since... :-)

I had two on-campus interviews.

I have a feeling I'll be doing the same thing with Samantha. Even though it annoyed me to be corrected, as an adult, I am very glad that my mom, rather than my employer, corrected many of my common grammatical/speech errors. (including upspeak)
**please excuse any typos or grammatical errors. Yellowtail was calling my name this evening.
I KNEW I liked you for a reason -- yellowtail shiraz can be had for $5.99 a bottle at the state liquor store next to Liza's ballet studio -- it's the funniest thing 4:30 ballet class starts, 4:35 state liquor store fills with ballet moms !
