I read through alot of the posts where women state stuff like not being comfortable with leaving their babies with "strangers" and honestly, I never felt that way. Sure there have been times I felt sad to leave my kids, sure there are days that I wished I could have stayed home (more for me because the hustle bustle of work/drop off/pick up/lunches/getting up early/cookign dinner late, etc).

In many of the upscale districts back where we lived, only teachers with MAs were considered acceptable.

yes, I've heard that from other teachers as well. That getting the masters is a double edged sword. Here in Maryland there is an expectation that a teacher will get her master's within the first 5 years of teaching, but on the con side, getting it makes it a lot harder to switch school districts afterwards because, as you say, in a choice between a relatively new teacher with an MS and one with a BS, they'll take the bachelor's every time.

Wow, I don't know any of the districts around here that have "a lot" of opening each year, some yes, but a lot?
