Hilary Rosen has started a Twitter firestorm by stating that Ann Romney isn't capable of giving advice on women and the economy since she's never worked a day in her life:

What I don't get is why Romney needs his wife to report to him on what women are saying.

Maybe it was also to try to make her look like an asset to his candidacy.

Well said. very well said.

an analogy -- I feel I can *represent* gays and lesbians because I *support* gay and lesbian rights and see their lifestyle as valid and undamaging to America and believe sexual orientation has no place in politics, employment, marriage, medical care, etc.

But, I can't represent gays and lesbians in depth, because I've not experienced their lives and walked in their shoes.

If, *if*, Ann Romney was representing WOHM by *supporting* and *advocating* for their rights, then her own personal work status wouldn't matter. Just like my own sexual orientation doesn't matter. But she isn't. So she, imo, can't represent WOHMs in any way.

Bingo. Ann Romney is a more likable figure than Mitt, and he's trying to appeal to women voters.

I thought it was snarky, too. I believe Ann Romney has done lots of charitable work, so it's really not true that she's never "worked a day in her life." The underlying issue is that Ann and Mitt appear to be out of touch with what families who don't have their economic resources are going through.

Mrs. Romney can speak for herself, but it is unfair for her to speak for the multitude of women who have never had the luxury of choosing to stay at home or work. When a family cannot meet their basic needs without the mom working, the only choice we have is to work while trying to raise children or be homeless and hungry. All stay at home moms make sacrifices, however it is still better than not having a choice and forced to work, have few waking hours with your children, and little energy after a hard days work to fulfill all the responsibilities that stay at home moms do. This has been blown out of proportion by the media, and lack of the true statement will be used for political fodder. So sad......
