Hilary Rosen has started a Twitter firestorm by stating that Ann Romney isn't capable of giving advice on women and the economy since she's never worked a day in her life:

I don't usually come on this board, but this popped up on the front page of iVillage so I thought I would come check it out.
My personal view (as someone who has been a WOHM and is now a SAHM) is that someone who has never been a WOHM mom can not represent WOHMs.

How is it a "slam" when what you're saying is the truth? The Romneys are ridiculously wealthy. Ann Romney is not qualified to advise on the economic concerns of women in this country, she has never been in their position.
<<<... Why does somebody have to fall on hard times financially, have to work outside the home to care about the economy? >>>
In theory, they don't. But you're seriously kidding yourself if you think Mitt Romney cares about the average American and their economic struggles. He blatantly doesn't, and it's obvious.
The bottom line is that Ann Romney doesn't really have a clue about *either* side. She has never had to work in a punch-the-timeclock-and-bring-home-a-paycheck sense. And as a sahm, I am sure she had the luxury of a household staff that the average sahm doesn't. Yes, her wealth makes her clueless. How is that a slam? It is what it is.

<<What do you think about her viewpoint?
Nobody is saying that raising kids isn't hard work and if this was a try and winning over women voters, she failed with me witht his statement.
I had never heard of Rosen before, but I'm liking what I've been reading.
I thought that was odd as well.
I've done all three; sah, charitable work and working out of the home.
Yes, I agree.
