Hilary Rosen has started a Twitter firestorm by stating that Ann Romney isn't capable of giving advice on women and the economy since she's never worked a day in her life:

Line up five women with totally separate backgrounds and experiences and you're likely to get five different viewpoints of what is important... What is insulting is assuming b/c somebody has not worked a day in her life she is not qualified to speak for women.

No, I think it's insulting for Romney to decide that his wife, can speak for women.

But Mitt Romney IS out there campaigning and talking to people, Ann Romney is supporting her husband by getting out there and talking to people too, Are you suggesting that wives of candidates have never done that before?

I haven't continued to "take a phrase out of context." I said many, many posts ago that I took Rosen at her word when she clarified what she meant. But I can also see the other side. I understand why some people took her comment the way they did, and I don't think it was a smart thing for her to say. And I really have no desire to rehash this over and over and over again with you.

Your comments contradict that claim, such as

I don't think Romney "just happens" to be running for President. It looks pretty deliberate to me. Mrs. Romney may indeed be talking to a lot of women. But are they a representative sample? Is she asking meaningful questions, and then rigorously analyzing the data? I haven't seen any evidence of that, have you? As for how many women I talk to in a week, tgat's not relevant since I'm not offering myself up as qualified to advise a presidential canduadate about "what women want"."

I'm with Rosen.

Am I alone in saying that what I hate about this discussion is seeing the phrase, "Mommy War" all over the damn place?
