I thought I would add another company to avoid, they sell insurance and want their sales people to sign up more sales people.

Same here except everyone is the boss in that we all can tell everyone what to do. I can tell my boss that she will have to do the alterations on dresses because I already have enough to do. I can tell the manager to rebead or sew in cups for me. The consultants can tell me that beads are missing while they are steaming a gown or they need to steam a gown and the alterations aren't done. To be honest, we don't demand, we ask.

In the large companies that schathcock is talking about, the secretary still isn't working for her immediate supervisor. He/she doesn't write her paychecks, they come from the company. So her scenario still doesn't fit.
