Are working moms stretched too thin?

Do you think a mom who works full-time and has kids is stretched too thin?

I was working full-time up till November of 2005. Then I decided that it was all too much. I was exhausted and found that when I did get to spend time with my little guy (he is now 2 1/2) I was very impatient with him because I was soo tired. Also the stress of work often overflowed into my personal life (both with ds and dh).

Now that I have been home for over 6 months, I am finally starting to be more patient and am enjoying my son instead of rushing him along. If he want to take 20 minutes to get into the car - ok, no problem.

So - do you think that trying to juggle work, kids, marriage and all the stresses that come with those things is too much? (I did)

Maybe when my son is older - then I will go back to work and it might be easier because he will be more self-sufficient? Who knows? All I know is that for now, I am enjoying being a SAHM and am glad for the time I get to devote to my son and the lower stress levels (that I believe were very unhealthy for me).

Yes, but that doesn't mean I always put my kids first. Sometimes my marriage needs more attention than my kids do. We aren't talking only about needs... at least we weren't before. You were talking about time and attention spent on the kids.

I agree with Bamia. The hostility is tangible here. Do you think women here are foolish enough to clearly voice their distaste for Bamia's comments in a personal way? A year ago they did! But now everyone here has learned to be much more subtle in light of the recent bannings ~ I'm thinking especially of the Banshees ~ and phrase their feelings much more subtly and in compliance with TOS. But the nastiness is palpable.

Thanks to my opinion that dads are just as important as moms to children, mine will NEVER EVER be starved for their daddy's attention. Enough time with BOTH parents is ten million times more important than some baseless ideal that only daddy should work.

Women have been fighting for equal opportunity much longer than since the 1950's.

"How are you qualified to make that sort of statement?" is bashing? I'm sorry, but you can't just go around saying everything is an insult. This is getting ridiculous. For your info, the lady you just replied to homeschools her 4 kids. You HAVE no kids, you are in your 20s, but you can say that homeschooling is bad for social skills? Okey dokey. Whatever.

I preferred having my mom stay home than work. "

Really? My mom was a full time SAHM. I would have preferred she worked part time at least. She would have been happier, and therefore *we* would have been happier, IMO. Not that we didnt have a happy childhood.

You actually want her to go back and cut & paste from articles you claim to have read?

No, it's not about discipline.

No, she's not simply believing in what she is doing, she is calling numerous women liars. Perhaps you would tolerate someone calling you a liar?
