I agree that it skewed the conversation when ballet came was mentioned (and not by me), but I don't think anyone said cheerleading was the only kids' activity with the potential to objectify little girls or teens. It's something I'd be wary of wherever I happened to find it.
Prejudicial? Let's get real - if my dd's were involved in an activity where I honestly thought that some things about it, be they costumes, make-up, or routines, were inappropriate for their age, and I brought it up to the powers that be, I don't think I'd be satisfied to be told I was being "prejudicial", especially if I wasn't the only parent to feel that way.
Nobody's condemning an entire sport. If a parent is concerned about some aspect of their kids' activities in the sense of inappropriateness, would the proper response from a coach be that the parent only "sees what they want to see"?
