ROFL, and I thought the players were the only ones with one-on-one tutors and special classes.

Couldn't they just put some guys on the squad, you know, integrate it a little?

I'm still looking and will cite soon.

In the meantime... if all you have been saying is that objectification is bad, then what are we even debating? All that pumpkinangel and myself and several other have been saying is that in most cases, in our experience, it's not THAT prevalant in cheerleading. If we essentially agree, then what are we debating?

I think you are focusing on the elements and it's a misplaced focus.

Of course not, my son also received sports illustrated for kids and talks to his teammates as well.

Did that same person say that cheerleaders should be allowed to show their bellybuttons in school and others could not? If that's not what they said, then your comment about obeying the dress code wasn't applicable.

Sure, we emphasize the positive. We don't have to bring the Barry Bonds types into focus for our kids if we don't want to. But if there's something you don't approve of happening with your kid's particular squad or team, you can't always ignore it.

Around here, it's not really the DCC. But the New England Patriots cheerleaders are pretty raunchy, if you ask me, and the New England Patriots are hugely popular in Massachusetts. Of course, some posters say that's not really cheerleading.

Nope; I've stated several times that I'm sensitive to objectification of both boys and girls wherever I might happen to see it, that I recognize cheerleading is both athletic and done many different ways, not all of which are objectionable, and that it's only the elements of objectification that I'd take issue with in cheerleading or in any other activities for kids.
