Different subjects and over 1,000 posts in a single thread is fairly routine for this board. The outline option can help make things easier to follow. In any case, threads are only closed for TOS violations.

<< The entire time I have said that it is my OPINION! that 10 year olds should not be left alone. PERIOD That would mean all children in general who are ten imo should not be left alone, becasue they imo are not mature enough period. >>

Which of course is incorrect since it's common knowledge that children mature at different rates.

I have no idea what I am going to do....if my son stays at his current school next year (goes through 6th grade), everything can stay the same.

I know it stinks. I still have a few years to worry about this!! She would probably only be home alone for about 2 hours so it would not be that bad. We will have to see!

Well I don't really agree with SB about the ojbectifying for a reason not to be dress half naked so when I say the beach would be ok, it's because I agree with the dress code thing but for a different reason. She would have to explain why it's different in the objectifying way.

I think it's inappropriate for young girls to dress half naked (in most places). The beach would be different because everyone wears very little at the beach due to the weather and due to the acitivities (swimming & sand). Even if you wear a one piece suit you are wearing far less than you would wear to school or other places. So I don't have a problem with wearing a one-piece swimsuit or a 2 piece swimsuit when swimming at a pool or beach. But to apply the my kid wears a 2 piece swimsuit when swimming so why can't she wear something like that when other places, I don't agree with. I do not thing it's ok for young girls to wear skimpy clothes other places besides the beach. I can't think of anywhere else I'd take my kids in short halters tops or tshirts with half their stomach showing and half their hips showing like you dress at the beach.

I was agreeing that you cannot control how others will perceive your child. But I will also not say that perception is everyone else's problem & let my children wear clothes in which they are barely covered.
