<<"A couple of their friends have, but my dd's have other activities"

Let me guess: chess and band.>>

Why?

You can hate me, but do it because you know me, not because I’m a member of a group. Anyways, people aren’t grapes --- you can’t weigh them in a bunch, but I guess it’s easier than dealing with people as individuals. There, I’ve solved the riddle of prejudice: it saves time.

>>IMO a child wearing a belly shirt and short skirt to cheer on a team is inappropriate.<<

Just a question, but would you also find it inappropriate for a child to wear a belly shirt and a short skirt while attending a game for the same team?

Wow...quite a leap there! Question...if cheerleading is such a wonderful thing, why would only the "popular" girls be chosen??

"Let me guess: chess and band"

Wow. What is that supposed to mean!! Are you trying to support the stereotype that cheerleaders wouldn't be smart enough to play chess or play a musical instrument??

I'm not saying that one of the qualifications of making the team is popularity. The teams here one must try out for, so it's based on athletic ability and spirit. But, once you become a cheerleader, you gain some popularity.

No, no such thing. If a child is only in chess or band, the odds are the child is not that athletic. I know we will hear stories of mini Emmett Smiths' or Pujols' who are in chess and band but choose not to play sports.

I'm not supporting any stereotype about cheerleaders. My DD is a cheerleader and she's also in band and also enjoys playing chess. Imagine that! So the fire you tried to start was just extinguished.

Or maybe even some sort of stereotype about kids who do chess or band.
