I usually ignore it when people just say, or have the attitude of, "Ehh, cheerleading's not for me or my kids. I don't see much value in it and don't enjoy it." but I can't stop myself from defending the sport when I hear "It's about wiggling bums" or when cheerleaders are compared to strippers or when one portrays the attitude of cheerleading being immoral or about sex and such.
No, no drive by shooting's in my neighborhood. In the neighborhood I grew up in, which is a very nice upper middle class neighborhood. A small town at that. There are many gang's that are multiplying.
Your correct incest has been around for centuries as for rape and sexual predetors, a new predetor is a internet predator, scary stuff. Becasue we are now more aware criminals are being caught and acknowledged. Iam confident knowing that my 10 year old will not be left home alone. :)
Prevention! By staying home with my children until they are a bit older. I feel I am there for them when things may happen and perhaps preventing the accidents injuries abuse ect.
No, you do not know that. That was ww.woman's point. You have no way of knowing that. Very often, sexual predators go for kids within their own family circle, for example. These days, doctors, teachers and social workers are much better trained in spotting sexual abuse and are required to report their suspicions. Back when you were a kid, that was not so and many, many cases of sexual abuse went unreported and unprosecuted.
As we now know, the Catholic Church had a consistent policy of keeping known child molestors in rotation and keeping their victims from filing charges. This is no longer the case. So, all in all, you really have no way of knowing what kind of sexual abuse might have taken place in your childhood neighborhood.
Thank you. I know there are fears for every generation and more publicity now but 9/11 is the biggest one I remember because I had a child at that time and was not just in fear for myself but for her. Both my dh and I left work to go and get her as she was near an airport and they did not know really what was going on. I live near NYC so more was going on locally than in other states (other than Washington D.C. and PA).

Yes and no, children now have much more responsibility when it comes to school work and academics.
Very very true,
I know in my neighborhood circle there was no sexual predetors, unless they have not been caught yet.

Most of them haven't.
