Not in 1970 there was not. Now, yes, there is one right around the corner from me.

i dont think that people feel or think that way at all. there are just certain people who are not going to let the fear or what might or could happen dictate how they live their lives and raise their kids. my kids are in more danger of being harmed in an automobile accident than by a pedophile butit doesnt stop me from strapping them in the car on a daily basis. i want my kids to have a certain kind of life, i have taken the necessary steps to ensure them the greatest amount of safety while having that life but they are going to be allowed to be children and have the life we want them to have - and the rest is in Gods hands.

it is not a matter of not making time - i simply dont want to go out to the bus stop every day. my 5 year old was more than able to get off the bus, walk across the street and up the driveway. at our bus stop we have no parents who after the first week or so or unless it is raining go to meet the bus.

i take it you dont have a clue what cheerleading is really about do you. my oldest is a cheerleader - do you know that the insurance for the cheerleaders is considerably more than for the football players because cheering is more dangerous. I have seen my dd come home from a game with no skin left on her palms, with bruises all over her. for most of the games this year they cheered in their sweat outfits. cheering is a sport, just as football, basketball and wrestling is. is it because it is being done by girls that you take issue with it?

Well I know by me the bus driver will not let a 5 year old off the bus without a parent. All the parents go to and from the busstop, except for one.

It is the same at our bus stop, that I use maybe once a month. It is a policy that k-2 will not be let off the bus without a parent, guardian, DCP, nanny, noted family or friend. I was late one day stuck in traffic, they contacted me and I was thrilled they took my little ones back to the school where I picked them up.

I dont worry about predetors with my children, but the risk is there, my children are only allowed on certain sites and if there is not a adult near, they may not be online. Do you realize there is communities for sexual predetors on the internet where they support on another?

My neighbors 12 year old had a grown man of 45 preying on him online, because he simply had to much freedom online. He, the predator was caught.

How do you know there wasn't one? Even personally knowing the people in your neighborhood is no guarentee that none of them is a predator. Remember that it used to be reported less. And there was no website where you could check for local convicted predators. You simply have no way of knowing. Remember that back then priests never molested anybody either...until it turned out that some were serial predators who were moved from one parish to another by the Church which would rather protect its' reputation than let any of them be rightfully charged with a crime.
