ITA with you. It is hard to raise a young girl when all she sees is girls degrading themselves to get guys' attention. I will not let my daughter watch MTV alone as I don't want her thinking these girls in videos are how girls should be dressing and acting.
At age 17, there are many things kids can get in trouble with, drugs, sex, drinking. I know a kids who have "roamed" around the streets and they are always up to no good.
I said I never spank my kids. When I was a child I did get spanked. I don't remember how young but probably around 7 or 8. It was not alot because I was not a bad kid.
Hitting kids should be against the law, but is spanking against the law in your state? I see a big difference between hitting and spanking. Here in Texas corporal punishment was still the norm in most school districts until recently. Incidentally, my parents knew a family who immigrated to the U.S. almost 40 years ago from Sweden--spanking was illegal there and because of their religious beliefs about bringing up their children, they felt that their religious freedoms were being violated and so came to the U.S. Their children, now in their late 30s and 40s, are some of the best people I've ever met. Sweden's loss, our gain, I guess.
I haven't been lurking/posting and as I've been reading your posts, just figured you were someone new since I've been last posting. I was wondering what had happened to some of the old timers. I just realized who you are after seeing your son's name LOL. Glad to see you are still here!
Yes, spanking is against the law in my state. I don't remember when but I remember my sister as a kid telling my parents she would call CPS if they hit her. We were not hit too often but enough that she was threating them (as all the other kids her age were!).
