You are NOT serious are you? Any kid roaming around the neighborhood, especially at nightime is looking for trouble. I am not talking about young kids during the day, riding bikes, going to each other's houses. I am talking about young teens, at night, just "hanging out".
That makes no sense, I am sorry. The logical conclusion of what you are saying is that teenagers should never be allowed to go out, because it is a given that they will look for trouble. My dd goes to the movies, to a cafe etc, I really can't see how that is "looking for trouble."
I meant by just hanging out in the streets at night. Going to teen clubs, movies, etc. is fine as that is all kids things and we all did that as a kid. Any kid I have known when I was a kid or now who just roams around at night in the street has done nothing but trouble, drinking, drugs, vandalism, etc.
I don't know if it is actually illegal or not (just tried to research and did not find much) but I know if you hit your child and someone does call CPS, you get in trouble. When my sister and her friends told their parents this, it was in the early 1980's.
OK, I guess your world is a lot different from mine. Here the kids hang in the square at night, they chat, they laugh. The adults are hanging in the same square. It is a neighborhood. If my kid did something really bad, I would hear about it pretty quickly.
Kids here that hang out at all hours of the night are just looking for trouble. They are usually doing drugs, having sex at young ages, vandalising something.
Yes, but maybe it is the "all hours of the night" that is the problem, not the hanging out. Maybe it is the fact that nobody says anything to them (I don't mean the parents, but the neighbors). Where we live is a much more social environment. people have no problem talking to each other, getting in each other's faces, complaining, yelling and screaming. It can be a bit much sometimes, but for young people I think it is a definite advantage.
