I never claimed fact I will leave my child alone at 12. He is not 12 so until he is Icannot say if I will or not. I plan to try at 12 for a few minutes to run down the street let's say 15 minutes or so, If Iam comfortable with this. Time will tell.
I have also never used the law to support my view. I said I dont leave my 10 year old home alone becasue it is agianst the law, if I agree with the law or not, to much of a risk, Imo to break this law, when it comes to children.
Like I said to another poster, I will have to agree to disagree, we dont see eye to eye on this issue and we are not going to. :)
But if you take the possibly extreme, negative view and use it as the "role model" for cheerleaders, then YOU are the one perpetuating the stereotype and the sleaze factor. Those of us who can see past that, and show the other side to our children, are the ones that are actually fighting it. Not supporting cheerleading at all really doesn't do anything to fight the stereotype or change the extreme. Instead, supporting non-sleazy cheerleading fights the stereotype and changes the extreme.
The "look at the DCC" argument bothers me. Don't Catholics get bothered when others say "I don't want to be Catholic; all the priests are molesters." Don't lawyers get bothered when others say "Lawyers are sleazy." Don't WOHMs get bothered when SAHMs say "WOHMs all work for mercedes."
I know you Sab. The statements in the paragraph above would evoke responses of "Those are overgeneralize stereotypes." from you. Yet, you're doing the SAME thing here, wrt cheerleaders.
Sure, some little girls, with parents that have only half a brain, might look up to the DCC as a role model and try and emulate that. Just like some little boys, with parents that only have half a brain, might look up to Bill Clinton as a role model and try to emulate that.
I posted this information knowing full well, that these are statistic's of home accident's, because of these risk's I choose not to leave my ten year old alone at home.
IMO if a parent is home these things may be prevented. Im not trying to use the stat's to support my opinion, that 1`0 year olds should not be left alone. I posted those stat's to inform others of the risk of leaving a ten year old alone without adult supervision.
Maybe I should fire my nanny because this board seem's to think 10 year olds can fend for themsleves. lol
IMO the risk is higher if the child is left alone than if a parent is there. That is why i do not leave my ten year old alone or do i think 10 year olds should be home alone, becasue IMO the may not old enough to cope with being left alone.
This is MY opinion I never claimed it is written in stone. Im not that ignorant. :)
Those risks are not dependent on anyone being at home alone.
<>
But again, those stats say nothing about anyone being left home alone, therefore they don't inform others of the risks of leaving children home alone, because they don't mention being home alone.

That's not what the board has been saying, it's not even what I have been saying.

First of all, I have never stated that and second of all, perhaps because that's what you expect to see, therefore that's what you see?

You just did and stated something similar previously.
