A woman I know (I used to work with her dh) practices "attachment parenting". Here is a definition (for those who don't know what it is):
"Attachment Parenting includes respecting your child's needs, feeding on demand, and answering your baby's cries. Other parts of Attachment Parenting include co-sleeping, nursing on demand, sling or other baby carrier wearing, and cloth diapering. Not all Attachment Parents practice all of the above, but never the less love the idea of Attachment Parenting and comforting their children.
Attachment parenting uses mild discipline methods and avoids all physical or emotional punishment, such as inflicting shame on a child for inappropriate behavior. Children are encouraged and allowed to sleep with their parents, and you treat your bed as the family bed. Meeting your child's needs according to the child's time frame during the early years of development is an essential part of attachment parenting. Children will be allowed to grow and learn at their own pace and not according to standard time frames."
What do you all think of attachment parenting?
I don't see attachment parenting as something a WOH parent could do, or could they? What do u think?
I am also curious to see if SAHPs vs/ WOHPs will have different opionions on this topic.
If anyone here practices attachment parenting - was your decision to do so closely linked with your decision to be a SAHP?

If you want to be so technical the gov't doesn't actually pay us for mat leave. We (as in everyone man or women) pay into employment insurance. Under employment insurance is mat leave. I have been paying into EI for 20 years.. So I deserve to get some money back. It comes off everyones check and no one gets it back.
What if my DH gets sick and has to be off for 6 months it is certainly nice to know he will receive a bit of money (and again its not a lot because its only a percentage of your wage) instead of nothing. Or if your company goes billy up you can go on ei until you can get another job. I am glad we have this kind of insurance and it ins't bad or directed at only one person. Anyone that qualifies receives it. So NO the gov't doesn't pay women to SAH! I paid into that so yes I get it.
Not everyone gets mat leave so if the gov't pays women to sah then every woman having a baby would get it but that isn't true either. If you own your own business or do contract work you don't get EI for anything cause you don't pay into EI during that time even if you paid into EI a long time ago etc. Plus, you need 600 hours before your baby is due in order to receive Mat Leave. If a gov't was all for SAH and thought WOH was evil they would make it easier to get it, you would receive a lot more money per month, and that it was available for every mom...
You still have not shown any proof that our gov't thinks WOH bad.

I'm not. The ones who try to make God fit into a mold of not creating tumors or viruses are. Because they are trying to reconcile the reality of the world with their concept of what it should be like.
And what's worse, not only are they trying to humanize God, they are trying to deify man.
So, given that disease isn't limited to cancer and AIDS, it's your belief that God intended man to stay put? Because lots of diseases that spread from a population that is more or less resistant into a population that is devastated are the result of man moving around the globe.
Why is it so hard to believe that disease is the work of God? It's just a physical world at work. And it works in a rather remarkable way. That we end up getting sick as a result of part of how it works doesn't make God "bad".
I liked how you sidestepped the question of the existance of cancer. Why is it bad that "so many" people get cancer, but OK that God intended for "some people" to get cancer?
You think man created bacteria? Viruses?
This is what I just don't get. God created the world. Bacteria and other disease-causing agents are part of that world. Why is that a bad thing?
Why are you acting like cancer and AIDS are the only two fatal diseases in the world? They were simply two that got mentioned as examples of the many, many illnesses which can befall us.
You think every disease is the result of man's free will?
