A woman I know (I used to work with her dh) practices "attachment parenting". Here is a definition (for those who don't know what it is):

"Attachment Parenting includes respecting your child's needs, feeding on demand, and answering your baby's cries. Other parts of Attachment Parenting include co-sleeping, nursing on demand, sling or other baby carrier wearing, and cloth diapering. Not all Attachment Parents practice all of the above, but never the less love the idea of Attachment Parenting and comforting their children.

Attachment parenting uses mild discipline methods and avoids all physical or emotional punishment, such as inflicting shame on a child for inappropriate behavior. Children are encouraged and allowed to sleep with their parents, and you treat your bed as the family bed. Meeting your child's needs according to the child's time frame during the early years of development is an essential part of attachment parenting. Children will be allowed to grow and learn at their own pace and not according to standard time frames."

What do you all think of attachment parenting?

I don't see attachment parenting as something a WOH parent could do, or could they? What do u think?

I am also curious to see if SAHPs vs/ WOHPs will have different opionions on this topic.

If anyone here practices attachment parenting - was your decision to do so closely linked with your decision to be a SAHP?

I get the distinct impression here, however, that breastmilk is being categorized right up there with cookies, candy and potato chips. Not from you, obviously.

Breastmilk is nutritionally superior to pasteurized, homogenized milk.

If you don't care, why do you continue to discuss it? I am NOT the topic of this thread and I am more and more offended with each post you write to continue this, despite several others assuring you that I am NOT the person Sunkistmom accused me of being. As for "so many" believing I am, as of now, it seems ONLY you (and possibly Sunkistmom) believed it.

You've been assured by more people than I this is untrue. Kindly drop it. I do not wish to be a topic of conversation in this regard.

You go girl!! If you didn't want to be the topic you should have never opened the door to it. I am not the only person and if I was then why the interest. Stop posting about it and eventually it will be dropped. The more times you post about it the more guilty you look!

but the debate is not about healthy food vs junk food. what you are saying would only enter into it if say turkey kwkkere they only healthy food one could serve for thanksgiving. i can come up with a whole list of things i could put on the table that would be just as healthy

Thank you for sharing more of your story. I totally understand where you are coming from and would never judge you for your choices. I admit, I would have FF too if I rtw with an infant as I *HATE* pumping, nor was ever very successful at it. Nursing is one of the biggest reason I chose to SAH because I am just not a pumping kind of gal.

I've never understood why after the infant stage, breastmilk from a cow is somehow regarded higher than breastmilk from a human. It just doesnt make sense to me.

Yes, that is why we see so many Thanksgiving decorations of Hams wearing pilgrim hats.
