I have friends that would never be SAHM, it is simply not something that they want. They love their jobs. The crazy thing is they are constantly being asked when they are going to have children or why they don't want to be SAHM. So I guess it seems no matter what we decide, we are being judged by someone. I just think that each family needs to decide what is best for them and everyone else needs to bug out.

Umm yes, that's what most posters here think.

What is disrespectful to all on this board is that you assume that we do not "weigh what's important."

The judgments go both ways. Those who can afford to have a parent SAH and choose to work anyway are as unfairly and as often judged as those who choose to SAH. There will always be judgmental people in this world - you have to choose whether or not those people are important in your life and if not, ignore it.

You said you don't judge - but your whole post was full of judgmental statements.

Saying one's farts don't stink doesn't mean anything if one's farts do indeed stink.

So much for the << I would never judge anyone on it.>>

I'm sorry for what you and your family are going through. I truly am. I have a very dear friend who has an 8yo that had a brain tumor as a toddler and that still struggles with medical issues today. (She, by the way, is a FTWOHM). It's a situation no parent would ever wish themselves or anyone else into.

However, your tragic story doesn't make your argument any more compelling or any more true.

It's difficult to avoid scrutiny as a woman.

And if we can afford to meet the bills and still CHOOSE to WOH? Are we evil then?
