Just catching up on an old, old post re: your family having zero family time when you WOH. Did you and DH have staggered or opposite work hours? I can certainly understand that. Since our boys are still so young, DH and I are rarely interacting when we have family time, it's usually each one of us chasing one of the boys LOL. But I see your point.

We had opposite work hours. One of the times, I worked from 8-7 with about a 30 minute commute, and then he worked 8p- 2a. And then, when he got the job he isnow, I worked evenings and weekends at a department store. I can see how WOH works for other people, but for us, daycare is not an option so at this point in time WOH is just not something that works for us. DS starts preschool in the fall, and I will be finishing the degree I want. Honestly... if things went according to plan, we would have been much more financially stable before we had ds, but he was *not* planned, and we had to make it work. I guess life is what happens when you're making plans ;)

Yes, I'm with you. I couldn't sacrifice couple time and work opposite shifts. I'm sure that was tough.

It was, but it paid off! I'm SAH now, but lately I've been thinking I might be technically WAH. Dh started his own business, (mechanic) but has no clue about the business end of things... so I spend a large part of my day doing his books, getting licenses in order, buying parts...etc. I just think.. ok.. I'm only 24 yrs old and we've already bought a house, we're doing ok!

I'd say, get the business to pay you a salary - I believe it would be a deductible expense to his business! Whether or not you get paid, sounds like you're definitely WAH!

I think we'd have to turn a profit first LOL!
