that's difference - with an "e" :)

Inspired by a post the other day, I think from peteynjoeysmom, about contracting out the "drudge work" of childcare and housework.

Do you think there's a big difference between "childcare" and "parenting", and if so, what is it?

It's a regular daycare. My niece is there full time while her parents work during the day.

<We pay $800 a week, plus taxes, health care premiums and gas. $500 for two young kids sounds good to me.>

WOW....It is amazing others reality.

Money aside, how do you feel about paying for down time for your nanny?

What type of care? What is the age of the child? I thought in your original post you refered to two children.

Actually, you intially had a correct grasp on the much more juicy issue of how PNJ defines "grunt work."

Paying for flexibility isn't a crime.

I know that, and the nanny has to be paid for a full day's work even if she has down time.

They do have two children, 11 and 4. They lived close to family when the oldest was little and didn't have to use dc. The youngest was only one year old when they moved to Alaska, and she's been in dc since then. They are looking forward to her starting kindergarten next fall. It will save them a gob of money.
