I just thought this was an informative article on Christian women working outside the home. Thought maybe other would find some useful information in it. This is not for debating just for some information.

You've put this post in the wrong folder if you do not want it to be debated. As a Christian, working wife, and mother; there is nothing remotely informative about this article except maybe the unchallenged patriarchy of certain Christian fundamentalist denominations.

Wow. "FEW SUBJECTS ARE MORE CONTROVERSIAL THAN WORKING WIVES"???? Are they for real? Amidst all the hundreds and thousands of things worth debating they pick working WIVES (not even moms I note - so apparently wifey must sit home even if childless so big stwong man gets to hunt and gather). I'm speechless.

oh yeah. and I"m catholic.

wow. gimme a break with this garbage -- the men who write this need to take big dose of get over yourself and grow up and face facts that women are smart, talented, accomplished and in most cases can kick their asses in the workforce.

I'd move this to the not to be debated folder if you really don't want it debate -- nothing frosts my cheerios more than antiquated baloney like this.

Hey..on another subject....since you are Catholic...what did you think of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence busting into the Catholic church in San Francisco a couple of weeks ago?

This article belongs at the very bottom of the total TRASH -- and sexist garbage wrapped up in a thin vernier of misguided "christian" rhetoric. What a load of hooey.

But then I guess I don't agree that its my "role" to be "materially dependant" on anyone.

Yep agreed! You'd think oh a few subjects like divorce, adultry, abortion, birth control, pre marital sex, oh and I don't know --- priests who abuse their subjects, war, genocide, oh and I'm sure another 2000 or so topics could top this "controversial" subject of wives who work. Maybe it was a slow day in Christianity the day he wrote this article?

I found a lot of presumptions in the article: women (or men for that matter) getting their emotional fulfillment in their jobs; mothers being responsible for the day-to-day discipline (totally denies all the references in the Bible, both Old and New Testament, especially in Proverbs, where it is either both parents or mainly the father who is to discipline his children and provide daily guidance); and women confusing the loyalties between work and family. And since the Proverbs 31 wife and mother is held up as the Biblical ideal, I'd say that the Bible is more on the side of the wife/mother supporting her family financially along side of her husband than neutral on the subject.

LOL! Are you serious? I have worked for a divorce lawyer for 10 years and HALF, if not more, of the couples involved have a SAHM involved. That is an uninformed generalization.
