"I think many (you?) seem to ignore the fact that some families simply want two full time workers, it's not just about income."

I can certainly agree that having boht parents woh ft works best for many families, for financial and non financial reasons.

"Some people actually do not want a sahp, it's not their goal in life and in many cases never was."

Understood and agreed.

Would you be able to spend 6 to 8 weeks, every week, at ball fields/courts if you WOH FT (40 hours a week) and spent another 11 hours commuting?

I guess it is great because it is her life and she thinks that it is great? Hey, she teaches science to middle school kids, seems to like it and to be good at it, and she says she, her husband and four kids are thriving except for some temporary money woes. How much better does it have to be?

It's great because it works FOR HER -- it doens't have to work for you - you're not her.

In your case, the benefit of your work status is a short commute, not no commute.

All experienced WAHPs have a segregated work area so they can shut the door and be "at home" when they are not working. Plus, there's a tax benefit :)

Do you control those weeks you work more hours, or fewer hours?
