I haven't stayed at a birthday party with Liza since she was in kindergarten -- now the whole 'big party' thing is passe though -- they're older and want just one or two good friends for something special

I noticed that too until of course they are 16 and then they have these really BIG parties. 5 more years until that :)

Just wait...My dd graduated from 8th last week and she's been to 4 parties since, with more to come. I feel less comfortable about dropping her off until I know who's chaperoning. I have lingered for a bit at drop off.

we had them at 13 --- called them bar/bat mitzvot -- although my kids had to work HARD to earn them , LOL!
