Same question for you....how do you reconcile the two conflicting points?


Trusting a middle schooler or child to be home alone but not trusting them to care for themselves, cook and such?

This is confusing to me, too. Here you have kids that are incapable of feeding themselves, don't know how much ketchup to put on a hamburger, can't open a milk bottle or cut meat, but they are OK to be left alone for hours at a time, because presumably, they'd know what to do in an emergency. I don't know, this is not all adding up to me.

My oldest son has flown on a plane by himself, well there were a lot of other people on the plane, none that he knew though.

I honestly can't keep up with the amount of food that my oldest eats, yikes, teenage boys can eat, lol, ime.

I don't know. We don't have big fat one year old birthday parties here either. We're just not into that kind of ostentation.
