I wonder how come your adult activities are not planned later at night? Not many things, IME are planned around dinnertime.

Yes, part of the process in allowing my kids to stay at home alone was for them to show that they could make all kinds of decisions, from good food choices, to cleaning up their messes to all kinds of things that are about self care and their environment before I allowed them to stay at home alone, since we as parents wouldn't be there to guide them....they had to show that they could do it on their own.

I am finding all your little giggles and swooshes to be rude as well. I was attributing it to you being from a different place with a different culture though, as you have assured us quite often that you are a well-brought up and polite person. I can only assume that what is polite in some areas of the country in others is....not so much.

Were there meals on these planes? If so, and your parents were not nearby, who cut your meat? Or opened your little condiment packages? Could you manage those things by the age of 8 or 9?

The ability to have family dinners often has a whole lot to do with the age of the children. Very easy when all of the children are elementary school age and below, more complicated when they are high schoolers.
