I wouldn't need to let her stay home all day. You are talking about 2 hours, the MOST. Don't see why she would be doing cooking or cleaning in that amount of time. She SHOULD be doing her homework. And if I know my dd, she will stay at school to do her homework in the library and be in clubs after school and won't get home until or after my dh.

I agree it does depend on the activities.

It can also depend on the amount of children in the family. The more children, the more chance of having conflicts.

Wouldn't the wohp you were responding to leave her child alone on school vacation, summer vacation, holidays, and school release days all day, and well as 2hrs after school?

As a working parent, I would never leave my middle schooler without afterschool or vacation supervision.

What will she be doing on early release days and school vacation? IME, that's about 25 days a school year. What about summer vacation, another 10 weeks?
